Boys’ cross country wins Woodbridge Classic race

Girls take sixth at De La Salle Invitational

The Menlo boys’ cross country team charged through the 43rd annual Woodbridge Classic in Irvine and became the No. 1 California Div. V school all-time in meet history, No. 5 school in state history on the course.

Knights senior Landon Pretre won gold in the White Varsity Boys-A race with a time of 14:16.7 and led the team to a first-place finish. The Knights went on to win the team championship in the race with all scoring runners placing top 13.


Seniors Will Hauser was third in 14:27.2 and Jared Saal sixth in 14:43.3. Sophomore Henry Hauser took 11th in 14:49.5 and freshman Oliver Olbekson 13th in 14:57.3.
A second varsity B team also ran Friday night with Jonah Block pacing the Knights in

The girls’ cross country team took sixth in the 26-team Varsity Girls race at De La Salle Nike Invitational in Concord
Knights senior Veronica Taira led the Knights in 10th (18:49.7) and junior Ariya Kaushek was 17th {19:16.9). Senior Amelie Giomi was 32nd in 19:58.l7. Emily Dong, Bella Ewars, Anya Ramani & Halle Blanchard rounded out the team in the 201-runner field.
