Learning Spanish at Menlo? You’ll learn not just how to say “amor” but also how to write it in Japanese.

At Menlo, even though students study a particular language, they learn an appreciation for all cultures.

Sarai Lucas ’14 speaks Spanish and studies Japanese. She brought her expertise in both languages to the sixth grade Spanish class, showing the younger students how to make origami hearts and write “love” in Japanese–with instructions in Spanish. The sixth graders will use the hearts for a project celebrating “cultura mundial.” And they’ll get a chance to teach the “big kids” how to make guacamole later in the year!
