Biography

I grew up on the East coast. I received both my undergraduate and graduate degrees at Tufts University in Electrical Engineering. In undergrad, I focused on analog design including motor design, radar, and power systems analysis, but I was using so much digital technology during my studies, my interests grew and I moved on to get my master’s degree in computer science. While doing so I completed the requirements for a degree in mathematics which was and continues to be, my most joyful study.

I went on to design hardware CPU’s and FPU’s for over 10 years, and I had the wonderful opportunity to follow entire computer projects from initial design, through debug, and on to final shipment. Through this process, I taught mathematics at the Harvard Adult Education Center and tutored many local high school and college students in mathematics.

At this point, it became clear that I wanted to teach mathematics full-time. I spent some time working with the Cupertino School District helping with mathematics placement, tutoring Harker students, and I came upon a position at Pinewood. Working at Pinewood Upper campus I taught many of the classes, enjoyed a lot of professional development, and worked most of those years as the head of the mathematics department. I am excited to now work with this collaborative team at Menlo.

Outside of school, I enjoy camping with my husband and our dogs, baking, working out at the YMCA, cycling, riding my motorcycle, reading, and visiting with family and friends.
