All three of my older siblings attended and loved Menlo. I became familiar with the school and knew I wanted to attend.

The thing I enjoy most about attending Menlo are the teachers. The Menlo teachers not only care about you as a student but you as a person. I’ve built super strong relationships with my teachers over the years and I find that this aspect of Menlo really stands out from other schools. They genuinely want you to succeed. I feel like they’re constantly rooting for everyone.

The biggest challenge I’ve faced at Menlo was switching to distance learning during COVID. The transition was a bit of a shock, especially starting freshman year online. As difficult as it was, I learned to be more of an independent learner and a stronger self-advocate. Those two things have supported me in the classroom and in my learning.

Throughout my time at Menlo, I’ve explored extracurriculars such as basketball, tennis, and mock trial, but a highlight for me is the drama program. Since 6th grade, I’ve done almost every show and I’ve had so much fun! Mr. Minning and the drama team have created an incredible environment that produces great productions. I have found that the casts have become like family.

My favorite Menlo class has been French. The Menlo French teachers are amazing. I’ve not only learned a lot, but I’m having so much fun in all their classes. A highlight has been exploring French culture. I have especially enjoyed learning about things like the political environment, the arts, and, of course, the food! One time, our class made éclairs in the cafeteria while listening to French rap music. This is definitely a favorite Menlo memory!

The school spirit! Menlo has a strong school spirit. I love how students show up for each other by coming to the plays, to the games, to the concerts – basically to everything! My favorite weeks out of the year are always spirit weeks, when everyone dresses up according to the crazy theme for the day.
