Biography

I came to Menlo in 2004 into my current role. My work at Menlo in education is a “second” career for me.

From 1970 to 2001, I spent my “first” career in the corporate sector, starting with General Electric Company and concluding with Citigroup and a startup in Silicon Valley. I worked in a variety of roles including sales, sales management, corporate finance and general management. After retirement, while serving on corporate boards and enjoying skiing, golfing and boating while living in the Reno-Tahoe area, I became involved at Sage Ridge School, which our children were attending, and found my second calling, as a Trustee and volunteer Chief Financial Officer. I remain an Emeritus Trustee of Sage Ridge today. A desire to move our family (wife Joan and children David (Menlo 2008) and Caroline), back to the Bay Area, coincided with an opening at Menlo for the CFO position and the rest is history. It has been an extraordinary journey as the campus has evolved from a master plan to a completed masterpiece.
