My name is Ally! I am a 7th grade student at Menlo and I am really excited to tell you about how amazing Menlo is!
I first applied to Menlo because I thought it would be a good fit for me. I watched the production of Oliver as a fourth grader, and as a child of the theater, I could tell they had a good theater department. This was my first sign that the school would be a good fit for me. After I applied to schools, I was accepted into Menlo and another top choice. I then realized that Menlo was definitely better for me. Here’s why: The academics are rigorous, but it isn’t so rigorous that you have to spend all of your time studying. At Menlo, you learn a lot while being able to pursue the activities and extracurriculars that you love. That balance is a quality that is hard to get elsewhere!
I have enjoyed pretty much everything about Menlo. The classes are extremely educational and immersive (even during quarantine). The activities at your fingertips are extremely varied so students can experience everything from basketball to debate, meaning that they can try anything they want, and if they don’t like it, there’s way more to try. Menlo is truly the place you can discover your passion. I have enjoyed debate, theater, and waterpolo/swimming. I was able to find that I didn’t really enjoy tennis, and that I really enjoyed water polo! Menlo’s sports curriculum can help find a passion.
The Menlo community is a group of kind and caring individuals - not only the students but the teachers as well. It is always in their best interest to help you learn. If you don’t understand the material, the teachers are more than willing to stay after class or during office hours (a time period dedicated to asking teachers for help) to help you. Besides the teachers, the friends you meet here are good people who will help you with anything and will make you smile. All around, the Menlo community will just improve your life!
