When I was going through the admission process, I knew immediately that if I got into Menlo, I would go there. I chose Menlo mainly because of its welcoming community. Everyone was so helpful and nice with all my questions. The teachers are readily available to help you and make class super fun. And, of course, I love the cafeteria because there are so many amazing choices for lunch.
One of the things I enjoy most about Menlo are the teachers. The teachers are super engaging and make class time fun. If you don’t understand something, they’re always ready to help out. You can send them an email and they will make time for you as soon as they can. Plus, they have office hours each week so you can share your questions and ideas with them.
Middle School is an exciting time for me, but as with any experience, I encountered challenges. My adjustment to a new homework schedule and general middle school expectations took me a little time to get used to. The teachers do an amazing job in helping ease students and in providing support all along the way.
I’m not sure that I have one favorite class, but if I had to choose, it would be science. What I enjoy most about science is evolution. I enjoy evolution because learning about the past and how things evolved in what they are today is fascinating. The teachers know how to engage the students and this makes a huge difference. I love hands-on learning. An example is the watermelon experiment.
What makes Menlo special to me is the community. Menlo’s community is all about making sure that everyone feels welcome. Our guiding principles in Middle School, The Habits of Heart and Mind, play a big part in our experience. They are posted in every classroom. I feel like the students and teachers embrace the importance of these values. This is another example of something I consider amazing that makes our community so great.
