              “This
morning we came
together as a group to learn about
how our tiny mountain village has changed
over the years from the impacts of tourism. Afterward, we learned some phrases in the local Naxi dialect so that communication would be slightly more bearable. After eating yummy lunches with our families, we returned to our retreat center to map the village and where everyone was living...We [then] explored the known boundaries of our village and ventured to nearby Lashi Lake, small towns, and fields of fruit and grain. After venturing off into the unknown, we expanded the boundaries of the village map and took beautiful photos of the mountain lake.
[That evening,] after being whupped by my homestay grandfather in table tennis, I
retreated for dinner and sleep.”
