TRACK & FIELD
(Girls sixth place state, fourth place CCS, WBAL champion; boys third place league)
In a season filled with program firsts, track & field added
to School history. All five Menlo qualifiers finished on the podium for Menlo’s strongest CCS showing ever. A School- record three advanced to state: Robert Miranda ’18 (12th PR, 3,200), Alexandra Chan ’19 (15th, 100 hurdles), and Charlotte Tomkinson ’20 (sixth, 800). The girls placed sixth in team competition at state after winning their fourth consecutive league championship. The boys had an outstanding showing at league, as well, taking third and just missing a CCS berth.
  Boys’ tennis compiled a flawless 29-0 record and took a national tournament title as well as the NorCal crown

Koberlein as Director of Athletics.
Koberlein joins Menlo from Stanford
University, where he had before
served as the senior associate
athletic director for intercollegiate
sports since 2006. A Stanford men’s
basketball player from 1982 to 1986,
Koberlein returned to Stanford in 1993 as the men’s basketball administrative assistant. He was promoted to director of intercollegiate sports and championships in 1996 and was named an assistant athletic director in 1999 and associate athletic director in 2001. Koberlein said,
“It took a special place to pull me away from Stanford, and Menlo is an exciting opportunity for me to positively impact the lives of many young student-athletes.”
Koberlein graduated from Stanford with a degree in psychology in 1987 and went on to play professional basketball in Australia. He earned a master’s degree in sport management from USF in 1994.
Koberlein takes over from fellow Stanford graduate Kris Weems, who is an assistant coach for the Golden State Warriors G-League team in Santa Cruz. Weems played basketball at Stanford when Koberlein was an assistant administrator with the program.
