SUMMER/FALL 2019
Fulfilling the Vision
In 2015, with the approaching celebration of Menlo’s centennial, the Board of Trustees and Than Healy, who had recently arrived as Menlo’s new Head of School, began plans to launch the School’s most ambitious campaign to date: the Menlo Centennial Campaign.
“The Menlo Centennial Campaign really has two overall goals: finish the main campus and increase the endowment,” said Than Healy. “Our facilities provide the spaces necessary to foster the strong relationships between students and adults that are the core of who we are, and our endowment helps to ensure that we become increasingly financially sustainable
so that students a generation from now can enjoy the Menlo education our students today benefit from.”
Through the Centennial Campaign’s early phase, we have already made strong progress toward the goal of finishing our central campus:
◗ In the fall of 2017, Menlo celebrated the opening of the Commons. The new center, which features a dining hall and renovated and expanded spaces for the library and student life, transformed the center of campus into a vibrant hub where students and parents congregate to meet, eat, collaborate, and build a greater sense of Menlo community.
◗ The Tech Center also opened in the fall of 2017. The two- story structure located adjacent to the Creative Arts and Design Center features spaces for students to meet and work and houses the School’s technology team.
◗ Upgrades to several of our athletics facilities, including the track, Gates Pool, the Wunderlich Tennis Courts, and the Silver Family Baseball Field, were completed in 2018.
