Menlo School proudly welcomed four new members into the Athletics Hall of Fame in 2017. Menlo Hall of Famers are recognized for leadership, sportsmanship and superiority in athletic competition, and dedication for spending countless hours helping others achieve their athletic goals.
JACK BOWEN (boys’ water polo coach and Aquatics Director) has coached water polo at Menlo School for the past 17 years, winning the league championship 15 times and the section championship  ve times. He recorded his 400th win this past season and now holds a record of 425-116. Jack was selected as a CIF Model Coach and was honored with the Bill Barnett Distinguished Coach National Award by USA Water Polo
this past season. He was named a Positive Coaching Alliance Double-Goal Coach in 2012 as well as a CCS All-Sport Honor Coach in 2006. In 2003, he served as the Primary Assistant Coach for the U.S. National Team. Jack teaches philosophy and ethics at Menlo and serves as the College Athletics Counselor.
MEGAN BURMEISTER ’07 (water polo, swimming) was a four-year varsity letter winner in both water polo and
swimming. During her time at Menlo, the girls’ water polo team won four PAL Championships (2004-2007) and three CCS Championships (2005, 2006, and 2007). In her senior year, Megan was named PAL and CCS Water Polo Player of the Year. As a swimmer, she was All-team PAL and a CCS  nalist. Megan went on to play water polo at UCLA, where she won two NCAA Championships (2008 and 2009) and was named to the All-American Collegiate Team. She now works on the Packaging Development and Program Management Team at Apple’s Beats by Dre.
BEN HOHL ’07 (water polo, swimming), a four-year water polo and three-year swimming letter winner, led Menlo to CCS Div. II Championships in 2005 and 2006. He was a two- time NISCA First-Team All-American, CCS Player of the Year, and Peninsula Athletic League MVP. Ben holds Menlo’s top three single-season goal records and  nished with 465 goals as a Knight. In college, he  nished seventh on UCLA’s all-time goals list and was a First-Team All-American, an Academic All-American, an NCAA Championship First- Team selection, and UCLA Scholar-Athlete of the Year. He also played on the U.S. Men’s National Team, competing internationally while at UCLA. A er college, Ben played a year of professional water polo in Italy before starting his career in  nance.
DAVID SIMINOFF ’82 (swimming) swam a broad range of events for Menlo before making the World Junior Games
in Ecuador during his senior season. At Menlo, he quali ed for several CCS events—200 free, individual medley, and
500 free—and set national age-group records. David went
on to study at Stanford, where he swam through 1984. He su ered an accident and survived a coma, which ended his international swimming career. He graduated with honors from Stanford and earned an MA in  ne arts from University of Southern California and an MBA from Stanford, where
he met his wife, Ellen. David is a successful entrepreneur/ investor in private and public companies. He is also the father of Menlo student-athletes Sophie ’18 and Ben ’21.
