 WINTER 2018
Two longtime sta members have left Menlo to enjoy retirement and time with their families. We wish them well!
Bill Silver, Menlo’s longtime CFO, retired in 2017 after 13 years at the School. Bill managed the Business O ce, streamlining processes and helping to build a strong nancial foundation for Menlo. He, along with the Board and the Development team, was responsible for the successful completion of the Upper School Academics buildings, Athletic Center, Creative Arts and Design Center, and the Menlo Commons, in addition
to strengthening the School’s nancial aid program and serving as a key liaison in stewarding the School’s relationship with Menlo College. Bill touched and inspired everyone he worked with, and his caring counsel, terri c sense of humor, contagious smile, and willingness to help his colleagues out whether it be with advice and guidance on buying a home or a car or on life in general are already missed around campus. Bill plans to enjoy more time with friends and family, including children David ’08 and Caroline, and travel the world. He will also make time to return to Menlo for games and other events.
Mary Emery spent 30 years in various roles at Menlo before retiring last summer. She started in 1987 and spent more than a decade as the Assistant to the Upper School Director, then joined the Admissions Department for a decade and a half, and nished her career working for several years with the Development team. Mary also sent two children to Menlo: Renee ’95 and Alonzo ’98. She and her husband, Alonzo, have moved to Austin, Texas, to enjoy retirement and be closer to their grandchildren.
