            From the Director
Each morning when I arrive at my o ce, I have thirty minutes of quiet. I sip co ee and listen to the world wake up, and like clockwork, at 8:00 am, students start coming in. From that point forward, the College
Counseling O ce buzzes. There is constant tra c until the end of the
day. We are meeting with sophomores to get to know them, juniors to
talk about their upcoming college visits, and seniors who wait. They are waiting to hear from colleges who will notify them in March, and in turn, give them one month to decide where they will spend the next four years after Menlo. Students are feeling ooded with a range of emotions as college decisions loom and their time at Menlo wanes. We’ve worked hard to help seniors develop a balanced college list so they will have options that match their academic, social, and personal needs. This time of year, during those quiet moments in the morning, I think of the seniors. I think about the exciting adventures they are about to embark on, the countless lives they will impact, and the incredible people they are becoming. I hope students won’t connect their self-worth to an admissions decision and continue to hold their head high and proud as they re ect on their Menlo experience. I also hope they will cherish their nal months together.
