 Tim Benton ’11
Middle School Athletics/Upper School Assistant Football and Baseball Coach
Athletics were a sanctuary for me growing up. My coaches at Menlo helped me fall in love with sports
while paving the way for me to play
in college. The adversity you face as a student-athlete has so many real-world applications that you don’t realize
until you’re nished with school. After
graduating from UC Davis, I knew I
wanted to be involved in sports, but I
was unsure of where I’d end up. Before
joining the Athletic Department at
Menlo full time, I was coaching on the
side while working for the sports news
website Bleacher Report. Pretty quickly, I
realized coaching was something I could
see myself doing as part of my career.
You have a direct impact on kids and how they develop, not only as athletes but also as people. I came back to Menlo so that I could be a positive in uence in students’ lives in the same way that some of my coaches were for me. I take so much pride in working here because of what the School represents. I want these kids to have the same opportunity for growth that I did. Long-term, I hope to become an athletic director, and I’ve had some great mentors here that are showing me what it takes to get there. Menlo is still helping me learn after all these years, and coaching at Menlo has enabled me to give back to a place that has done so much for me.
Adriana Díaz-Ross
Upper School Spanish Teacher
Menlo is a place where people are committed to excelling and taking advantage of the learning environment and opportunities the School provides. I am inspired to teach Spanish as I want to give my students the opportunity to learn about themselves and the world. Knowing more than one language and understanding more than one culture open unimaginable doors along the way.
