Boys’ basketball splits WBAL match-ups

Knights clinch playoff bid

The last time Menlo and Sacred Heart Prep boys’ basketball teams met, the game came down to the wire decided on a buzzer-beater, but this time the Knights couldn’t climb back and lost 60-49 on the road Friday night.
The Knights took an early lead in the first quarter when Will Eggemeier drained a pair of three-pointers and Robby Enright added another, but the Gators rallied back in the quarter to lead 18-13 before extending the lead to 12 at the half.
Menlo senior Lucas Vogel tallied 18 points to pace the attack while Harry Housser added nine - all on threes. SHP’s T.J. O’Brien also scored 18. Menlo moves to 5-4 with a regular-season finale Priory on Tuesday.  

 

Menlo 85, Harker 44

2.7.2023 – The Menlo boys’ basketball team sailed to a 85-44 victory over visiting Harker in a WBAL matchup Tuesday.
With the win, the Knights (11-11) moved to 5-3 with two games remaining, and thus secured a bid to the postseason.
On Senior Night, Lucas Vogel poured in 27 points, including 22 in just over one quarter. Brooks Mead, also a senior added 12 points and six rebounds as all 13 players scored.
Menlo next plays SHP on the road Friday night.
