Explore, Problem Solve, and Create!
In the Middle School Computer Science and Design Engineering program, students develop habits of creative and collaborative problem-solving.
All Middle School students, grades six-eight, are introduced to Computer Science and Design Engineering as a way of thinking, relevant and applicable to a wide range of contexts. Through a project-based curriculum, they explore a breadth of experiences and challenges. They learn by doing, constructing their understanding in collaboration with their peers. Each project is designed to be accessible at many levels to accommodate students with or without prior experience, and students are encouraged to seek out the level that is appropriate for them.
While we explore specific programming languages from block-based to text-based, the focus is on learning concepts that can apply not only to class but to all aspects of students’ journey as learners and beyond.
