Menlo flag football team 2024The Menlo flag football team completed a perfect season, capturing its season finale with a 20-6 victory over host Sacred Heart Prep in the first Flag Valpo Bowl on Friday night.

​The Knights finished the season undefeated at 17-0 and extended their unbeaten streak to 32, dating back to September 27, 2023. Menlo played SHP three times this season.

On Friday in front of a full house, Menlo got on the ‘board first when sophomore quarterback Ava Allen found senior receiver Ellie Knoll for a 22-yard touchdown catch.

Junior Maren Mulloy, who already had an interception and two pass break-ups, hauled in a pass from Allen to extend the lead with 1:13 left in the first half.

In the second half, SHP’s Kate Hansen scored on a pick-6 before Menlo’s Scarlett Bundy broke up the conversion attempt.

Menlo freshman Addi Bruni scored on a rushing touchdown. The Knights’ Mary Mahe then fired to fellow senior Ari Kaufman for the conversion and a 20-6 lead with 36 seconds left.
