A Musical Murder Mystery Comes to Menlo

This hilarious whodunit features a toe-tapping Kander & Ebb score, razor-sharp wit, and plenty of suspense.

When the talentless leading lady in a troubled Boston theater production collapses during her final bow, Lieutenant Frank Cioffi, a musical-loving detective steps in to solve the case. As the body count rises, Cioffi finds plenty of suspects—disgruntled actors, jealous lovers, frustrated composers, and a desperate producer. But solving the crime isn’t Cioffi’s only challenge: With the production on the brink of disaster, he needs to save the show, and fast.

The production will mark Drama Director Steven Minning’s last at Menlo, as he plans to retire in June after more than a decade at the school. He describes Curtains as “a love letter to the magic of theater—packed with humor, heart, and plenty of surprises.”

Noelle ’25, who plays bright-eyed actress Nikki Harris in the show, shares, “Being part of Menlo Drama has been such an important part of my high school experience, and Curtains is the perfect way to cap off my participation in this beautiful community.” She describes the show as full of humor, fun twists, and a huge, talented ensemble. “There’s really nothing better than singing, dancing, and solving murders!” she says.

Adds Valerie ’26, Stage Manager, “What I love about this production is watching the cast and crew grow and evolve right up until the final show day. From the intricate set design to the stunning lights and sound that build suspense, every detail is made with care and intention. It all comes together to make this story truly remarkable.”

Adds Minning, “Our cast and crew have poured their energy into bringing this show to life, and I can’t wait for audiences to experience the fun with us!”
