Girls’ cross country takes fourth at CCS

The Menlo boys’ cross country team won back-to-back CCS Championships, the girls took fourth, and both teams are headed to the state meet for the fourth consecutive year.

The Knights race Nov. 29 at Woodward Park in Fresno.

The Knights boys, who won by 34 points, all finished top 25. Junior Henry Hauser led the way, winning silver in a PR 15:06.4, sophomore Oliver Olbekson came in in fourth (15:45.9), senior Amay Srinivasan in fifth (PR 15:55.5) and sophomore Tolliver Bates 12th (16:20.2).

Juniors Jonah Block finished 20th in16:38.6, followed by Ethan Shapero in 16:46.9 and sophomore Jack Harman in 17:00.01 for 20th among 115 runners.

In the girls’ race, Ariya Kaushek crossed the finish in fourth in 18:50.0 and fellow seniors Halle Blanchard was 12th in a PR 20:14.0 while Anya Ramani was 23rd in 21:11.

Junior Bella Ewers was 29th in 21:43.7, sophomore Annika Lecybill ran in a PR 22:13.3, freshman Maddy Lee in 22:20.6 and sophomore Lila Ozdemir in a PR 23:25.4.
