Menlo School welcomes Jamie Frank as Program Director of Girls’ Water Polo, and Boys and Girls Swimming, as well as Middle School Aquatics Director
Frank comes to Menlo after seven years as Sacred Heart Prep girls’ water polo head coach, a span during which he led the team to a combined record of 161-31, and won the CIF NorCal Open championship, as well as CCS Open Division titles four times.He was also Boys’ and Girls’ Swimming Coach since 2021 when the teams placed top 4 CCS and a third-place finish at state.
“Jamie Frank brings an exceptional track record of success and leadership to our swimming and girls’ water polo programs, with championship wins and a history of building competitive teams,” Director of Athletics Earl Koberlein said. “His ability to connect with student-athletes—instilling the values of hard work, teamwork, and striving for excellence—makes him an ideal mentor.”
For nine years, Frank served as Lower School PE teacher and Aquatics Coordinator, coaching teams and teaching PE in the lower middle school. He has comprehensive coaching and teaching experience, managing more than 60 student-athletes and their coaching staff in one season, organizing meets logistics, and serving as a league representative.
“Within the swimming and girls’ water polo programs, I aim to create an environment where students can experience joy through purposeful training and competition,” said Frank, who takes the reins Jan. 5. “Athletics offer invaluable opportunities to learn, practice, and embody life lessons, and I am grateful for the chance to support both personal and collective development here at Menlo.”
Frank has coached 30-plus All-American athletes and multiple Academic All-Americans, and will help those pursuing collegiate athletics navigate the competitive college recruiting process, ensuring support and guidance. Frank also was a longtime coach for Stanford Club and the Atherton Aquatics Foundation.
”We are confident that Jamie’s experience and genuine commitment to our student-athletes will not only continue to elevate our program, but also positively impact the lives of everyone on his teams. As the Middle School Aquatics Director, Jamie will impact even more young student-athletes,” Koberlein said.
Menlo extends heartfelt thank-yous to Laura Reynolds and Simon Cassidy for leading the girls water polo and swimming programs, respectively, over the last few years. “I appreciate their passion and dedication and especially how they truly cared for every student-athlete,” Koberlein said.
Frank graduated from Aragon High, was a four-time UC Irvine Scholar-Athlete and named an Academic All-American three times by the Association of Collegiate Water Polo coaches.
