Menlo School boys’ basketball went 2-2, closing the St. Francis-LaCañada Holiday Hoopfest with a thrilling 55-54 win over Milken of Los Angeles on Tuesday.
The Knights (8-4) also defeated St. Bonaventure, and lost to Calabasas and Pilibos.
In the final game, sophomore JayAr Davis posted 10 points & shot 50 percent from the field for the second day in row.
Senior Evan Arcilla tallied nine points, including three free throws to clinch the victory against Milken. Junior Kai Mawakana and sophomore Tres Onyejekwe combined for 14 rebounds and senior Maverick Desuasido added six steals.
Pilibos 64, Menlo 57
Menlo boys’ basketball falls to Pilibos-Los Angeles 64-57 in the third round of the St. Francis (La Cañada) Holiday Hoopfest on Monday.
Sophomore JayAr Davis scored a team-high 15 on 50 percent shooting from the field. Fellow sophomore Tres Onyejekwe tallied 13 points (also on 50 percent-shooting from the field), four steals, and nine rebounds
Senior Ethan Zhao added 11 points and seven rebounds.
Calabasas 76, Menlo 53
The Knights drop a 76-53 decision to Calabasas at the St. Francis-La Cañada Holiday Hoopfest second round Saturday,
Freshman Ethan Love scored a team-high 14, including three three-pointers - on 50 percent shooting.
Menlo 62, St. Bonaventure 52
Menlo defeated St. Bonaventure of Ventura 62-52 in a St. Francis Holiday Hoopfest opener Friday.
The Knights took an early lead then withstood a second-quarter charge to lead 27-26 at halftime.
Junior Kai Mawakana poured in 18 points, six rebounds while senior Ethan Zhao posted 10 pointsm, six rebounds and four assists. Junior Will Lenihan added 12 points, six rebounds while sophomore Tres Onyejekwe had four assists, seven rebounds and six points.
Menlo plays Calabasas at 4:30 pm Saturday.
