Menlo School girls’ soccer posted back-to-back WBAL shutout victories, defeating previously undefeated Crystal 4-0 at home.

The Knights, who picked up a hard-fought 1-0 win at Sacred Heart Prep on Tuesday, improved to 6-3-4 overall and is 3-1 in league. The Gryphons moved to 4-1-1 in league play.

Three minutes in, Menlo’s Julia Axelrod struck first on a feed from fellow senior Krista Arreola.

Arreola added a second goal after Axelrod returned the favor before Josie Lee, another senior, made it 3-0 in a dominating first half for Menlo. Sophomore Audrey Katz delivered the final goal on a goalie deflection, getting a boost from Axelrod and Arreola.

“We knew the key players to nullify and that half chances were crucial,” Menlo coach Ross Ireland said. “Some creative interplay followed up with clinical finishing made the difference.”

Senior Bianca Putanac recorded her third consecutive shutout.
