Menlo Upper School Drama is proud to present its winter production, Lost Girl. Performances will be at the Spieker Performing Arts Center on February 5, 6, and 7 at 7:30pm. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students, and are available for purchase at menloschool.org/tickets.
About the show
This bold, contemporary reimagining of Peter Pan explores what happens after the fairy tale ends. Lost Girl picks up where Peter Pan leaves off, following Wendy Darling as she wrestles with lingering memories of Neverland. Written by Kimberly Belflower (John Proctor Is the Villain), the play challenges romanticized notions of childhood and explores themes of love, loss, and renewal.
“This play lives in that tender space between who we were and who we’re becoming,” says director Mark Schneider. “Lost Girl has given our students a chance to explore memory, identity, and the complicated process of growing up—and they’ve met the material with remarkable thoughtfulness and heart.”
Meet the cast
The production features a talented ensemble of Menlo Upper School students.
“The show emphasizes the little moments of life and the close relationships between characters, and exploring those themes has really helped me grow as an actor,” says Vivian Sun (27’), playing the role of Wendy. “I find the story really compelling and the rehearsal process has been incredibly rewarding.”
“What I love about Lost Girl is its relationship with time,” says Jackson Belknap (’29), playing the role of Nibs. “It’s not necessarily linear or chronological, and it doesn’t really matter where a scene is in the timeline, because they all connect through Wendy.”
