Ma-Temsamani win WBAL Championship in all-Menlo final

The senior duo in narrow win over freshman duo Burnett-Chan to earn auto CCS bid

In an all-Menlo School boys’ tennis league final, seniors Yuanye Ma and Arki Temsamani defeated freshmen Miles Burnett and Maximus Chan in a down-to-the-wire match Tuesday.

Top seed Ma and Temsamani earn an automatic bid to the CCS doubles championship May 19-20 after a 7-6(5), 6-4 hard-fought win over their teammates and No. 2 seed Burnett and Chan. There will be a 16-team CCS tournament, including at-large bids.

Temsamani and Ma did not drop a set until the semifinal after beating Sacred Heart Prep’s Blake Sinclair-Evan Wang 6-0, 6-2. The duo beat Elliot Chu and Zachary Owyang of The King’s Academy 8-0, then Crystal’s Kai Labouisse-Alex Vaigel 8-0 in the early. rounds.

Burnett and Chan beat TKA’s Cole Chamness and Daniel Lee 6-0, 6-2 in the semifinals. The team opened with an 8-2 win over Eddie and Evan Zhang of Harker, then defeated Trevor Cho and Julian Deery of Nueva 8-1.
