Track & field athletes set school records, PRs at league finals

The Knights boys’ 4x800 and Lisi Mahe in discus broke school records at league while several bring home individual league tiltes 

Powered by a strong all-around performance, the Menlo School boys track and field team claimed the WBAL Championship, and the girls won silver, on Friday at The King’s Academy.

Next for the Knights is the CCS Championships, starting with semifinals on Saturday at Gilroy HS.

Knights junior Henry Hauser is a quadruple league champion after winning the 1600-meter race (4:26.12), and 800 (1:55.87). He also teamed with Maxwell Johnson, Amay Srinivasan and Tres Onyejekwe to win the 4x400, in a school-record in 3:27.08. They topped the previous-best of 3:27.08 set in 2023.

In the girls’ discus, sophomore Lise Mahe finished with a school-record throw of 95 feet, 9 inches for silver. She eclipsed Menlo’

s previous-best of 93-10, set in 2018. In shot put, Sierra Wynn also won silver with a mark of 35-4.5 and was fourth in discus.

In the trials, Hauser 4x800 in 8:04.94. Srinivasan also took silver in the 800m.

In the 1600, Menlo dominated: Olbekson took second (4:30.67), Srinivasan third (4:34.31), Tolliver Bates fourth (4:34.86), and Jack Harman fifth (4:34.88).

In the high jump, Braden Rock is league champion in high jump (5-6) and earned bronze in both the triple jump (40- 0.5) and long jump (20-0). Onyejekwe took silver in the 110 hurdles in 15.39 and bronze in the 300 hurdles (37.72).

T​he girls’ 4x100 of Adrianna Ananyi, Claire Barkley, Elise Darling and Camille Ananyi won gold in 51.08. Adrianna Ananyi was third in the 100 and fifth in the 200 and high jump. Camille Ananyi took third in the 100 hurdles , fifth in the 100 and 6th in the 200 to add points to Menlo’s team total.

Lisa Huhs, Halle Blanchard, Bella Ewers and Ariya Kaushek took bronze in the 4x800 in 10:26.51. Kaushek was fifth in the 3200 in 11:55.41.

Olbekson was third in the ​boys’ 3200, finishing in 9:38.03 and Bates fourth in 9:53.50 and Joseph Hurd in 10:00.79.

In the boys’ shot put, Jake Waldorf was sixth in 35-4.5 and William Gardner a point-getter in discus with a throw off 102-0. In the 200, Johnson ran in 23.71. In the girls’ triple jump, Darling was fifth with a mark of 27-9.5.
