Dean of Teaching and Learning, Upper School English Teacher

Biography

My roles at Menlo include Upper School Dean of Teaching and Learning and French teacher. I have the best job in the world—teaching my class, observing the excitement in Upper School classrooms, fostering strong mentoring structures for new teachers and helping to create a dynamic professional-growth program for our amazing faculty.

While working on a doctorate in French and Francophone literature from the University of Arizona, I taught university, community college and adult continuing education courses. In 1995, I began teaching in an independent school. France and Italy are my home away from home, geographically and linguistically. Summers are for traveling, especially to France. I’ve taken art history classes at the Louvre, a cooking class at the Cordon Bleu and every possible workshop for French teachers.

I practice yoga, read avidly, get easily addicted to word games, love old movies and film versions of nineteenth-century novels, cycling and hiking, and any chance to explore the beautiful Bay Area with my friends and family.
