Biography
I began my career as a librarian in 2016, working in Adult and Teen Services at San Jose Public Library before transitioning to independent schools in 2019. I am passionate about library programming, in particular creating opportunities for creative self-expression and moments of authentic connection. I am also an advocate for incorporating zines into library collections, instruction, outreach, and programming. Since 2017, I have been an organizing member of the Zine Pavilion at the American Library Association’s Annual Conference, introducing librarians and educators to the potential of zines.
I was born and raised in San Francisco and Berkeley and worked for nearly a decade as a summer camp counselor at Echo Lake, a City of Berkeley camp. The summers I spent there taught me patience, the power of a positive attitude, and to not take myself too seriously - lessons that I carry with me in my role as a librarian.
My interests include books, television, crossword puzzles, printmaking, crafting, and collecting stationery, stickers, and LEGO. I love animals, but especially dogs, and most of all my chihuahua mix Jack.
