Biography
A native of the Lone Star State, I completed my undergraduate degrees in physics and theatre at Austin College in Sherman, Texas. I had the realization during my final year that physics education was my passion but I then took a circuitous route to get there, a route that included teaching English classes in Korea, presenting assemblies on the science behind climate change to North Texas high schools, and eventually earning a Master of Science in Physics and a Master of Arts in Teaching in Science Education from the University of Texas at Dallas.
I spent the eight years prior to my being at Menlo teaching AP Physics 1, 2 and C at the Episcopal School of Dallas. Part of my time there was also focused on developing an astronomy course, working with faculty and students as an Upper School Diversity Liaison, and acting as the chair of the Science Department and the sponsor of the Environmental Club.
My interests are incredibly eclectic (all movies, rock music, baseball, horror novels, comic book superheroes, etc) but my enthusiasm for any and all things science is obviously at the heart of my work. My free time is consumed by reading, catching up on movies, and spending as much time as possible with my partner and our two dogs.
