Biography

I joined Menlo’s faculty in 2000 as the head water polo coach, and I continue in that role now. In 2003 I began teaching Philosophy in the Upper School and have done so since. I served as the Athletic Chair of the College Counseling Department for 10 years and the Director of the Water Polo for the seventh and eighth grade Middle School teams. I also teach the Ethics Seminar in Freshmen Rotation.

I earned a BA from Stanford University in Human Biology and a Master’s in Philosophy from Cal State University, Long Beach. I taught Philosophy at DeAnza College from 2000 to 2006.

I write a blog for the Positive Coaching Alliance and Only Sky.

My fifth book was published in 2019 and am currently writing my next book. The main focus of my books is to frame philosophy in an accessible, relevant manner.

My wife, Jessica, and I have two sons and a daughter along with cats Einstein and Copernicus, and a dog, Archimedes.
