Biography

Now in my 30th year as an educator, I joined Menlo in August 2014 as the seventh-grade English teacher.

I was born and raised in California, but have lived in Chicago, Telluride, Boston and Venice, Italy.

For my undergraduate degree, I attended UCSC, where I earned highest honors with a double major in American Literature and Italian Literature. Knowing that I wanted to be a teacher since high school, I then earned a Master of Arts in Teaching degree from Boston College. The last 16 years of my career were dedicated to Kirby Preparatory School in Santa Cruz, where I taught a wide range of English and World History courses and served for three years as the Dean of Faculty.

My family includes my wonderful husband, my English Bull Terrier Otto, and our American Staffordshire Terrier, Daphne. Outside of the classroom, I enjoy cooking from scratch, reading, watching HGTV, walking my dogs in the woods, practicing yoga, gardening, and living simply.
