Biography
I grew up in New York City, where I was fortunate to attend two wonderful independent schools that sparked my love of learning and showed me the power of being part of a close, relational community. I later headed west to earn my B.A. in English Literature from USC, where I developed a lasting love of NCAA football and a deep appreciation for the natural beauty of the West Coast. After spending a year living in Edinburgh, Scotland, where I took great delight in wandering through castles and (possibly) haunted alleyways, I moved to San Francisco to work as a journalist at Wired. Along the way, I discovered how much I loved tutoring students from around the Bay Area, which inspired me to pursue an M.Ed. at Stanford. I began my full-time teaching career at Summit Preparatory Charter School in Redwood City, where I served as a multi-site curriculum lead and designed a literacy program.
I joined Menlo School as an English faculty member in 2015-2016 and have since served as English Department Chair, Interim Upper School Director, Interim Upper School Assistant Director, and Director of Academic Innovation. Professional highlights have included leading the School’s pandemic response efforts, founding the Catalyst Semester, and, above all, graduating students from multiple Upper School Advocacies and sending them out into the world. It continues to be a gift to be a part of this special place!
While I’m not at school, I live in Emerald Hills with my husband and our two delightful cats.
