Latin Teacher

Biography

I was first enticed to study Latin as a 5th grader. The local high school Latin Club and Russian Club came to visit my elementary school in order to recruit students; the Russian Students did a folk dance and played their balalaikas while the Latin students did a skit about Julius Caesar and gave us Hershey’s Kisses. I was sold! In middle school, I competed on our Certamen team (Latin quiz bowl), and we won state. Thus my Latin teacher convinced me to attend the National Junior Classical League Convention. I have been involved in Latin and the JCL ever since!

I had 16 years of public school teaching experience in Illinois, prior to moving to Menlo. During that time, I held several leadership roles with the Illinois Junior Classical League, the Illinois Classical Conference, and the American Classical League. I currently serve on the Executive Committee of the National Junior Classical League, and I am thrilled to share my passion with my students here.

Additionally, I enjoy hiking with my dog and traveling, especially to Italy and Greece.
