Biography

I joined the Menlo Faculty in 2008 and since then have taught both Algebra 2 and Geometry. I also spend one to two periods a day working with students in Academic Support.

After receiving a BS in Electrical Engineering and a BA in Economics from Stanford in 1986, I moved to Southeast Asia, where I worked in conjunction with the Indonesian government and the UN to do small business development in rural West Java for two years. Upon returning to the US, I received an MBA from Stanford in 1990. I then spent 12 years working in management consulting, retail banking and software before deciding that what I really wanted to do was teach. I received my MA in mathematics education from Stanford in 2004. I taught middle school math for five years in Mountain View and Palo Alto before coming to Menlo.

I live here in Menlo Park and am a parent of three children, so I am deeply involved in their soccer, basketball, baseball and dance activities. My own hobbies are skiing, tennis and going to baseball games of any kind.
