MENLO SCHOOL • SINCE 1915

International Applicants

The international application is for students who meet all of the following criteria:

  1. attend school outside of the United States,
  2. are not citizens or permanent residents of the United States,
  3. are fluent in written and spoken English, and
  4. are relocating to the Bay Area with at least one parent or legal guardian.

To be considered for admission to Menlo School as an international student, you must meet all of the above criteria. Menlo does not issue I-20 visas and does not have a boarding program. Additionally, we do not accept mid-year transfers or one-year exchange students—all applicants must intend to graduate from Menlo.

All standard application materials and TOEFL scores must be received on or before January 9, 2024. Interviews can be completed on Zoom if necessary and should be scheduled before the application deadline. Transcripts and recommendations must be received by our office on or before January 31, 2024

International applicants must take the TOEFL iBT if the primary language of instruction at the student’s current academic institution is not English. Please designate Menlo School as an official score report recipient on the TOEFL registration form. Menlo’s code is 3496. More information about the TOEFL can be found at www.toefl.org.

Menlo does not require a minimum total score, however, students must earn at least the following in each section to be considered for admission:

  • Reading: 24
  • Listening: 22
  • Speaking: 25
  • Writing: 24

Applicants should be registered for the TOEFL iBT test no later than the end of December to ensure on-time delivery of results. International applicants should not register for a January TOEFL test. Menlo will accept results from the TOEFL iBT Home Edition.
