Football drives past Francis Parker

Knights take control, roll to 47-7 win

Menlo football charged out of the gates, and came away with a resounding 47-7 victory over visiting Francis Parker of San Diego at home Friday. Menlo improves to 2-2, and has a bye week before opening Peninsula Athletic League-Ocean Division play.

The Knights defense got the day started when senior Miles Hester recovered a fumble. Two plays later, senior Kevin Alarcon found Jaden Richardson, who pulled in a pass from senior Kevin Alarcon, and ran for a 50-yard touchown.

Richardson finished with seven receptions for 164 yards and a pair of touchdowns from Alarcon, who completed 13 of 19 passes for 246 yards and had one interception.

After the Knights took a 21-7 lead, they came out of the second half, they turned a fumble recovery near the Lancers’ 30 into a score. Junior Sam Chung, who finished with 102 yards in 14 carries, ran in from the 4. Justin Creamer, also a junior, batted down a Lancer’s pass and the Knights took over on downs. With less than five minutes left in the third, Chung marched the Knights down field and and senior Justin Sellers found Creamer for a 37-yard touchdown pass and a 34-7 lead.

In the fourth, Sellers would connect with receivers Richardson and junior Alex Wang for long gains and ended an 80-yard, eight-play possession with a 7-yard run by Sellers.

To end the game, sophomore Danny Solomon knocked the ball loose, then sophomore defensive lineman Noah Kornfeld scooped up the ball and ran in for a final score.
