Alumni update: Price ’14 to run in IAAF World Championships

Team Canada’s Maddy Price (Menlo 2014) will compete in the IAAF World Championships in Doha, Qatar, starting Frida​y and running through Oct. 6​. ​Price, a six-time All-American at Duke,​ will run the 400​-meter rac​e ​as well as ​the 4x400m relay and mixed relay ​at worlds​. Price qualified for the World Champions​hip​s earlier this year, running the ninth fastest 400m in Canadian history ​in​ 51.56.

Men’s water polo

​Tiago Bonchristiano ​and the UC-Santa Barbara men’s water polo team (13-0) moves up to No. 1 in the Collegiate Water Polo Association poll for the first time since 1979 when the Gauchos eventually won a national championship. UCSB starts play in the SoCal Invitational at UCLA, on Friday afternoon against San Jose State. Bonchristiano made eight saves and had two assists in a win over Fresno Pacfic. 


Football

Bowdoin’s Aidan Israelski (Menlo ’18) was named Special Teams Player of the Week after he returned four punts for 38 yards, had four catches for 66 yards, including a 34-yard reception, and gained 6 yards on a carry in a 37-24 loss to Hamilton.


Men’s golf 

Pomona College’s Seth Pope (Menlo ’19) impresses in his collegiate debut, finishing sixth overall with a three-day total of 214 as the Sagehens finished seventh at the California State Intercollegiate in Olivas Links. 


Women’s soccer

Freshman midfielder Sophie Jones, a 2019 Menlo graduate, assisted on a goal in No.8-ranked Duke’s 1-1 draw with North Carolina State.
