Catching Up With Menlo Alumni: June

Ian Cohn-Frank ’57 tells us he’s thinking fondly of Mr. Revard, a French teacher at Menlo many years ago, and the many friends he made at the School. He adds, “My best for continued health and success to those in the Class 2020 and to my friends from the ‘old days’ at Menlo, as I remember you while sitting here in Switzerland where I still live and practice.”

In early May, Spaceship Earth, a documentary directed by Matt Wolf ’05, was released on video on demand. The documentary focuses on the Biosphere 2 project, which attempted to create a closed ecosystem with the goal of demonstrating how humans might one day survive over long periods in outer space. The film received positive reviews, including one from RogerEbert.com, which called it, “a model of documentary craft, showcasing mainstream narrative nonfiction at its apex.”

Carson Gampell '16 takes a cut for Menlo during the 2015 baseball season Carson Gampell ’16 was named a Morgan Taylor Award winner for his exceptional performance on the Grinnell College baseball team. In eight games this season, Carson hit .593 with a .636 on base percentage and 1.037 slugging percentage, all team highs.
