Menlo School student-athletes Hanna Hoffman and Jack Murad will pursue their academic and athletics careers, signing national letters of intent Wednesday. Hoffman is set to play volleyball at Boston College and Murad will play water polo for Bucknell.

Today is the first day of the signing period which runs through Aug. 1, 2022. Additionally, more than a dozen more Menlo senior student-athletes are set to play NCAA Div. I-III intercollegiate sports, and will announce their commitments throughout the year as the admissions become official.

“We are so proud of all our student-athletes in the Class of 2022 and a special shout out to these two student-athletes who have signed NLIs today, as they pursue their academic and athletic interests at the next level,” Earl Koberlein, Menlo School Director of Athletics said. “Their hard work in the classroom, on the court and in the pool is exemplary and we look forward to supporting them and their teammates tonight in the playoffs and beyond.”

Hanna Hoffman (Boston College volleyball): The four-year varsity setter and opposite hitter led the Knights to a 71-32 mark so far over four seasons. Every year, the Knights have qualified for the Central Coast Section top-tier Open Division (no fall CCS in 2020) and to NorCals. The Knights have won the West Bay Athletic League-Foothill Division in 2018 and 2021. Hoffman is a three-year captain and two-year, first team All-League selection for the Knights, who are vying in the NorCal Open Division quarterfinals tonight.

Jack Murad (Bucknell water polo): The three-year letterwinner helped Menlo to the top tier, CCS Open Division in 2019 and 2021, and to at least the semifinals both years (2021 ongoing). He has 95 goals in 2-plus seasons, including the shortened fall 2020 season, and 61 goals, 31 assists and 26 steals as a senior so far. Murad is a captain this season for the Knights, who head into today’s CCS Open semifinals tonight and then NorCals.
