Football sails to season-opening win

Jake Bianchi 6 TDs in 47-7 win over N Salinas
Jake Bianchi totaled six touchdowns - four of those passing and three to Cort Halsey - in a win over North Salinas

8.27.2022 – From the opening kickoff, Menlo School football dominated in a 47-7 season–opening victory over visiting North Salinas on Saturday.
Senior quarterback Jake Bianchi finishes with six touchdowns - four passing, including three to senior tight end Cort Halsey - and two by run. Bianchi completed 11 of 12 passes for 206 yards.  

To start of the game, Knights senior Ty Richardson, a senior, took the ball from the 4 and ran it back for a quick score. The Knights held the Vikings to three more plays, Richardson again put Menlo in a great position after a 30-yard punt return. After Chris Liao picked off a Vikings pass, Menlo scored again on a three-pay drive that culminated in a touchdown pass from Bianchi to Halsey, and Menlo led 19-0 in just over five minutes.
Starting in the first and finishing in the second quarter, Bianchi led a seven-play 55-yard drive - buoyed by his 35-yard pass to Charlie King and finishing with another 12-yard catch by Halsey. The Knights would add two more touchdowns in the half while the defense stopped the Vikings before midfield. By halftime, Menlo led 47-0. Ross Muchnick converted all five of his PAT opportunities.
