Girls’ basketball notches pair of wins

Knights hold on to lead throughout after quick start

Menlo girls’ basketball defeated visiting Capuchino in a non-league basketball game Saturday.
All eleven Knights players scored, including Riley Jensen in her first game back from injury. Menlo’s Jordan Brooks had nine points as did Capuchino’s Sophia Cacianti. 

 

Menlo 55, Harker 47

1.10.2023 – The Menlo girls’ basketball team bounced back from a hard loss with a 55-47 victory over visiting Harker on a WBAL opener Tuesday.

A pair of sophomores paced the Knights’ attack: Ruiqi Liu scores a game-high 20, including four threes, and Karen Xin posts 15, also with four threes as Menlo got off to a quick start.

Menlo held a nine-point first-quarter lead and stretched it to 34-16 at halftime. When the Eagles started chipping away at the lead in the third with four three-pointers
Harker came within five in the fourth, but Menlo open up the lead again to 48-32 with 5:45 left.

Menlo next plays host to Capuchino at home Saturday.
