RN, Assistant School Nurse

Biography

Prior to joining Menlo School, I was focused on raising my five children, having taken a break from the profession of nursing. I am a graduate of Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, where I studied nutritional science and earned a Bachelor of Science. From there I went to Seattle University where I earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. My nursing career started in Seattle, Washington, working as an RN in the Emergency Department. As a native of California, I relocated to Palo Alto, where I worked at Stanford Hospital and Sequoia Hospital in the Emergency Department. An opportunity arose in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Stanford Children’s Hospital and I was intrigued, which was driven by my love for children. My journey in pediatric nursing continued as I joined the team in the Pediatric Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit, where I was a bedside nurse as well as a charge nurse and unit educator.

In my time outside of Menlo, I am raising my children who are school-age to college. I enjoy hiking, running, and exploring the outdoors. I am passionate about fitness and nutrition and enjoy cooking, traveling, and gardening. School nursing is the perfect job because it allows me to utilize my nursing skills while interacting with students and families and provides flexibility so I am able to parent my own children.
