Biography

I am originally from the Canary Islands (Spain)—the beautiful land after which those cute little birds are named—but I have enjoyed living in the US since 2014. Arizona gave me the wonderful chance to teach my native Spanish language at the high school level for six years, but having grown up on an island, the ocean was calling, so my husband and I decided to move to California. New to Menlo School’s faculty in 2021, I am excited to share my language and culture with our students!

Back in Spain, I attended a bilingual school where I discovered my great interest in foreign languages and cultures. Upon high school graduation, I decided to complete a bachelor’s degree program in translation and interpreting. I then spent some time in France working at a lycée, where I assisted several high school Spanish language teachers. That experience made me realize how fun and interesting it is to teach Spanish to speakers of other languages. So after some time in France, I went back home to Spain, and I earned my master’s degree in teaching Spanish as a foreign language. Shortly after that, I came to the United States.

I love traveling, arts and crafts, and scrapbooking. I also enjoy learning about other cultures, how they influence the way people view the world, and the languages they speak.
