I grew up in Marin County and spent a lot of time outdoors. After college, I went to graduate school and trained as a research geneticist and cell biologist. I have since worked in a number of laboratories both in the Bay Area and Boston, conducting research and managing graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and technicians. I have investigated the effects of growth factors in human mammary epithelial cells, protein trafficking in yeast, early axial development in frogs, and heart development in zebrafish.

I became interested in education through volunteering at my daughters’ elementary school in Palo Alto. Since receiving my teaching credentials over 5 years ago (both elementary and secondary science), I have served as a Math specialist and both an elementary and middle school science teacher. I am thrilled to be a part of the Menlo community as the Science Lab Tech in the Upper School.

When I am not in the lab, I spend my time crafting, with a special love for making jewelry and fiber arts. I also love the outdoors, especially hiking, biking, and camping with my husband and two daughters, ages 21 and 24.
