This is a paper about the effects on the American economy of the surge in immigration from Latin America to the United States from 1990 to 2015.

Indeed it is true that immigration caused competition with some local workers and occasionally caused lowered wages. However, the immigration was beneficial to the American economy as a whole, raising the GDP per capita. One reason is that Latin American immigrants caused labor force growth, supplying workers and allowing the economy to grow. In addition, Latin American immigrants were also beneficial to the American economy through their tax contributions and spending which stimulated the economy.
