Girls’ soccer opens with a win in San Mateo

11.30.2021 – The defending CCS Div. I champion Menlo girls’ soccer team opened its season with a 2-0 non-league victory over host San Mateo on Tuesday.
The Knights broke a 0-0 halftime time score in the 59th minute when in her prep soccer debut, freshman Roya Rezaee scored on an assist from senior Madison Liu. Just over 10 minutes later, Liu sent a cross to the left which deflected off a Bearcats player and doubled the Knights’ lead.
Junior Helen Barkley picked up the shutout, and Menlo resumes play at home Thursday against University of San Francisco.
