Girls’ soccer sails to WBAL wins

Lila Gold pours in five goals

Lila Gold had five goals in two games for the Knights.

Menlo 4, Priory 1

The Menlo girls’ soccer team defeated Priory on the road in a WBAL game Tuesday.
Senior Lila Gold scored a pair of goals - her fifth and sixth goals in two games for the Knights.
Audrey Hochstetler struck first on an assist from fellow sophomore Krista Arreola in the 10th minute. Priory tied it 1-1 after a penalty kick but Menlo came roaring back. In the 35th minute, Gold added her second goal before sophomore Haile Blanchard scored on a goalie deflection of Alyssa McAdams’ free kick.
Up 3-1 entering the second half, Menlo added an insurance goal when Gold sent a cornerkick bending into the net.
The Knights have won four in a row, and improve to 6-4-4 overall, 4-1 league.
Menlo 7, El Camino 0
The Knights rolled to a shutout win over El Camino in non-league play at home Saturday.
Lila Gold delivered a hat trick and has eight goals in three games. She also added an assist as five scored.
Haile Blanchard posted a goal and an assist while Amelie Giomi, Ellie Knoll, Claire Yao added goals. Krista Arreola, Lucia Aguilar, Lily Nye.
