Acting and Filming Bertolt Brecht’s Life of Galileo

The 2019 Galileo M Term class inspired students to delve into the subjects of astronomy, physics, history, drama and filmmaking.

In the seven day course, they performed some of Galileo’s seventeenth-century experiments on the nature of motion, looked through a telescope at the same night sky he did, read Bertolt Brecht’s 1938 play about his life and staged some scenes from it. The group of students—Morgan Wyatt ’20, Joshua Lim ’20, Ned Eyre ’20, and Luke Virsik ’20—went above and beyond in their filmed scenes from the play and created the video below. We are proud to share their enthusiastic re-enactment of the scientific breakthroughs and ethical dilemmas in the Life of Galileo.
